Why are we members of the FH-DCE? Here are a few statements from some of our member clubs
The
main reason for us (H-DC 't Centrum) to be a member of the FH-DCE is that we can
meet friends (who think alike about our joined hobby) not only from our own
country, but also from other countries of Europe. So we can travel to each other
and party together. We have met already a lot of new friends through the FH-DCE,
been to their parties and rallies (also abroad) and a lot of friends from abroad
also visited our rally. Further more we think that the communication with the H-D factory is
importent, as resulted in permitance of using the bar and shield in our logo. And
of course the Super Rally and a consistent quality of it is an important
item. But
still our main reason is the friendship among the different clubs that are
member of the FH-DCE.

For me the federation will be a brotherhood between
all the H-D-bikers and clubs all over europe. Is like a friendship, but not
everybody can be really my friend, of course. I see it as a way to help bikers on
the road they have problems with the bike or anything else to find a point for
help, what ever they need. They can ask help over here president, he can have a
look who is in the place there and can organize help.
A other thing, i think, are the rules at the moment
and in the future. All will be harder and harder. Some comming rules are against
the bikes and bikers. So when we are a big european group, we have more wight to
vote and more possibilities for have dicussions and some dialogs with the people
they are against to the bikes and bikers ( like assurances etc.). We do it in
the federation now and that are for me the mean things to be in the federation.
Of course, is fine to see all at the yearly presidentmeetings in different
countries. There are some friendships and we can have a nice weekend together.
We have all the informations from all over europe and if some people organize a
trip in a other country, there are connections.
The bad thing for me at the federation will be the
rules we did make by the federation self. I think we have to attend to make not
so much rules for us by us. Our club started to be at the dutch federation in
Amsterdam at 1988. In this past time we saw a lot of different things about
Harley and rules. We had presidentmeetings they was finished in about 3 hours
includly break. Now all will be lots biger and more professional organized. Of
corse, it will be a must to hold presidentmeetings like we have at the
time.
I think this are the short points to be in the
federation. I can write more over this, but i think this will be the main for
me.
Wish you a great day and see you soon

Being part of the FHDCE allows our club to meet new
bikers friends from all over Europe and to be informed of all the events
happening in different countries. Meeting other european clubs presidents and people
from Harley-Davidson to discuss new models/laws/different issues is as well very
important for us.

For me
it is mostly about people.
The
Federation gives us the chance to firstly to know other clubs exist and secondly
the opportunity to meet with members of these clubs.
To
give an example; through the Federation we met 'Jimmy the Greek' what a great
character then when Hellas was awarded the Super Rally we all said we will go to
that because Club Hellas will do a good job and look after us. This off course
was correct, great people, great time and super rally.
The
main point here is that we knew the people, if this had not
been the case we probably would never have gone to Greece.
It is great that we get the opportunity to visit new places /
countries and experience the host clubs hospitality who are in fact
representatives of their country.
This
inevitably leads many of us to visit new counties that we may never have gone to
if we had not meet some of the guys in the first place.
The
Federation brings us out of biking only / mainly in our own countries to travel
across all parts of Europe that I for one probably would would never have done
so much. It gives us a sense of security in the knowledge that there are people
everywhere that are just like ourselves.
Best

On the first demand ( why our club is a member of the
FHDCE), H-DC Disconnected, Antwerp has the following
arguments:
-In this manner we are officially recognised
by the H-D Company as an officially H-DC
-The possibility to fill in an all year round
agenda and visit our “collegue”-clubs from time to time
-The possibility to promote your own events
on, nationa and international agenda’s
-To search for some kind of brotherhood within
FH-DCE member clubs
-To have a healthy alternative of your club,
against your local MC’s or HOG-chapters, mostly the riders are looking for
something just in between, and we believe that being a official H-DC is just the
right track for us
Danny, H-DC Disconnected
Our club is a FH-DCE-member because
of the personal contacts and the iniciative of our ex-President Rocky (Joan
Guasch). He met people from FH-DCE-clubs at several Super rallys and proposed to
our club to join the federation. Since we are in the federation we have a lot
more international contacts and there are always a lot of people from federation
clubs visiting our Rally in Spain every year. We have registered a big
difference "before and after" joining the federation, our club had very few
international contacs before . When members of our club are travelling by bike
to countries with federation clubs some people contact members of other clubs,
ask them question, get infos, get help in different ways. In our club
-generally- we are happy to have these contacts. We also give people from other
clubs infos when they come to Spain or meet them or invite them to our
club house/club place (even when they travel without bikes with their family).
We have better informations what's going on in the club and Harley scene in
Europe, before we joined the federation we didn't have a lot of infos (and we
didn't care about it).
(*for example we have been last
weekend at a clubhouse party of ROAD HOGS HDC and we had a really very good
weekend there. We never would have gone to this party without the Federation
Contacts and at this small, regional party we have seen people from Austria,
Germany and even Finland federation clubs-.. that's the way it should
be)
